Root Chakra: Your Foundation

The root chakra is the first chakra, located at the base of your spine near the tailbone. It is your connection to the Earth, safety, and stability.

Place your hand at the base of your spine or over your perineum to connect with this energy center. Traditionally, the root chakra is a deep red color. It is the foundation of your body, mind, and spirit. Here resides your sense of security, survival instincts, physical vitality, and connection to the physical world.

  • Stability: Feeling safe in your body, home, and environment.

  • Grounding: Maintaining balance and staying present.

Imbalances can occur from stress, trauma, lack of physical activity, or insecurity—impacting your energy, confidence, and overall well-being.

Essential Oil Enhancement

Cedarwood essential oil supports grounding, stability, and a sense of calm.

  • Take 3 slow inhalations of cedarwood oil.

  • Apply a small amount to the base of your spine, lower back, or the soles of your feet.

Body-Mind Practice

  1. Sit or stand with your feet firmly on the ground.

  2. Rub your lower back, sacrum, and tailbone area gently with your open hands in a circular motion for 30 rotations.

    • This helps activate energy flow and promotes a sense of stability in the body.

  3. Place your hands softly over your root chakra.

    • Imagine roots growing from your tailbone deep into the Earth.

    • Feel the connection to the ground, drawing energy and nourishment up into your body.

This self-centering technique is naturally soothing and supports grounding, balance, and vitality.

Meditation

  1. Find a comfortable seated or standing position that allows your feet to fully contact the ground.

  2. Soften your pelvic and lower back area. Do not tighten—allow your body to relax fully.

  3. Place your hands on your root chakra.

    • Feel warmth and energy radiating from this base.

    • Imagine your tailbone as a sturdy tree trunk, with roots reaching deep into the Earth.

  4. Connect your breath to your foundation: inhale and exhale slowly five times.

Releasing Fear and Insecurity

Release worries, fear, and feelings of instability. Visualize these leaving your body with each exhale. Let the Earth support you and restore a sense of safety and balance.

Connecting to Your Foundation

  • Visualize a red sphere of energy at the base of your spine.

  • With each inhale, grow the red light—solidifying your foundation.

  • With each exhale, send stability and strength throughout your legs, feet, and whole body.

Feel grounded, secure, and supported. Imagine energy rising from the Earth through your roots, filling your body with vitality, courage, and a sense of home in your body.

Repeat inhale and exhale five times, imagining your foundation growing stronger and more stable with each breath.

  • I trust in the stability of my body and life.

  • I am connected to the Earth and my foundation.

  • I am strong, resilient, and supported.

  • I release fear and welcome security.

Closing

  • Inhale and exhale five times.

  • Gently rub your lower back and tailbone area, sending gratitude to your body for supporting you every day.

  • When ready, open your eyes, keeping your focus inward.

  • Return to your day with stability, confidence, and grounding energy.
